Social Media Marketing

Developing a strong social media marketing campaign is essential for your small business websites success. Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn attract millions of visitors daily.

Facebook now has over 800 million members, Twitter gets over 1.6 billion daily searches and LinkedIn has over 135 million members.

Facebook has even surpassed Google as the most popular site on the internet.

The newest player in the social media mix is Google+ Pages for business. It is to early to predict the impact Google+ will have but I went ahead and built a page for Grunt Websites so I will have a Google+ presence.

Today's online social media sites are just an extension of good old fashion face to face networking.

You network to make friends, contacts and business acquaintances in order to achieve your personal and professional goals.

Every successful small business owner I know, networks 24/7. Local Chamber of Commerce's, professional, civic, and business organizations all provide platforms for networking.

Today, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others provide an online social networking platform that allows you to expand beyond your local market and develop stronger relationships with your existing network.

Customer Service

You should also use social media to enhance your customer service. Initiate customer feed back on your social media sites. Listen, respond and make necessary changes to customer suggestions and complaints. This alone will set you apart from your competition.

What ever you call it, social networking, relationship marketing or just plain old networking, it all comes down to building relationships that are beneficial to both parties

People like doing business with someone they know and trust, social media marketing helps builds this confidence.

This is where most small business websites fail. The business does not interact with their customers or website visitors. A passive website with no customer interaction is doomed to failure.

To keep current on social media trends I recommend subscribing to the Social Media Examiner magazine. It is rated as one of the world's Top 100 business blogs and features free content to help businesses discover how to best use social media tools.
